Promoted to Generalarzt on 01-04-1941, Günther was the Corps Medic of the V Army Corps, until his death. He died of an illness on 24-03-1941, age 51 and is buried on the large war cemetery of Ysselstein in the Netherlands, 32.000 graves and one of his close neighbours is the Generalmajor der Infanterie, Feldkommandeur der 642th in Arnhem, Friedrich Kussin, the first killed German General during operation Market Garden. Kussin was killed in his staff car and scalped by the English Airborne’s near Oosterbeek
