Appointed as commander of the Division 404 to 01-05-1942, again in the Reserve and finally retired on 30-06-1942, age 67. One month later his son Leutnant Hans Hüttmann, age 21, was killed in battle, on 17-07-1943. Hüttmann retired in Goslar where he at the very old age of 94 died, on 29-10-1969.
