Kreysing, Hans, born in Göttingen in the Prussian Province of Hanover on 17-08-1890. Hans entered the Royal Prussian Army in October 1909, later joining the 10th Jäger battalion. Hans Kreysing received the Iron Cross (1914) 2nd class and 1st class.

Kreysing fought in World War I and served as the commander of a machine gun company in the 10th Reserve Jäger battalion. At the end of the war, he was an Oberleutnant. He remained in the post-war Reichswehr as a career officer. He became a battalion and regimental commander between 1934 and 1940.

At the outbreak of World War II, he was in command of the 16th Infantry Regiment. From October 1940 to August 1943 he commanded the 3rd Mountain Division, under command of Generaloberst Eduard Wolfrath Christiaan, “Büffel” Dietl, serving in Norway, Lapland and the eastern front.

In the heavy fighting in the Nikopol area, East Mark, Bavarian, Rhineland-Westphalian, Saxon, Mecklenburg, Pomeranian, and East Prussian divisions under the command of General of the Mountain Troops Ferdinand “Bloody FerdinandSchörner and Generals Erich Brandenberger , Friedrich Mieth, and Hans Kreysing from 05-11-1943, to 15-02-1944, prevented strong breakthrough attempts by the Bolsheviks with close combat and inflicted heavy losses on them.

In the process, 1,754 tanks, 533 artillery pieces, numerous other weapons, and various military equipment were captured or destroyed, and 56 enemy aircraft were shot down by infantry weapons. Continuing on the eastern front, Kreysing led the XVII Army Corps from November 1943 to April 1944, when he took command of the 8th Army,  replacement of General der Infanterie Otto August Wilhelm Wöhler(1894–1987)  which surrendered to Allied troops in Austria in May 1945. Kreysing ended the war with the rank of General of Mountain Troops.

General Erich Brandenburg survived the war and passed away 21-06-1955, age 62 in Bonn/North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Friedrich Mieth (04-06-1888 – 02-09-1944) was a German General during World War II. In 1942, he commanded Army Group Don Rear Area. Mieth was killed in action on 02-09-1944, age 56 in Iași, Romania.

Hans Kreysing passed away on 14-04-1969, age 78, in Oldenburg/Niedersachsen, Germany and his funeral on the Cemetery in Oldenburg, Germany, took place on 21-04-1969, featuring a ceremonial guard of honor from the Bundeswehr.
