Bauer, Max-Hermann, born 24-07-1912, in Rüstringen   joined the Kriegsmarine and started a carreer to Korvettenkapitän.

From 01-04-1930 Offiziersanwärter, from 10-10-1930 Seekadet, t1-01-1932 Fähnrich zur See, 01-04-1934 Oberfähnrich zur See, 01-10-1934 Leutnant zur See, 01-06-1936 Oberleutnant zur See, from 01-04-1939 Kapitänleutnant and on 01-05-1940 Korvettenkapitän (posthumous).

Death and burial ground of Bauer Max-Hermann.

He became Korvettenkapitän and commander of the U-18 from 01-11-1937 until 24-11-1939  he made 4 patrols in 47 days. He then took the command of the U-50 on 12-12-1939 2 patrols, in 30 days, and found his end on 06-04-1940. His successes were, 5 ships sunk, total tonnage 16,589 GRT.

The U-50 was sunk on 06-04-1940 in the North Atlantic and all the crew was killed and found their see grave. In Wilhelmshaven Kapitän zur See Herbert Emil Schultze is buried in section16 and the gravestone honors Max-Herman Bauer.
