Kiver, formely Eduard Heinrich Kiefer, Tilman, Kiwe Til, born 07-06-1910 in Aachen, was as a young boy already interested in show business and followed an education on the conservatory of Aachen, until 1934. In 1937 he went to the USA, Baltimore for an education on a drama school. Before the outbreak of the Second World War, he took part in several trips to distant countries, including an expedition to Tibesti in 1938. He then joined the Hermann Goering (did you know) Regiment and the Führer (see Adolf Hitler) (did you know)
Battalion. He was transferred to General der Panzertruppe, Eugen Meindl’s
Fallschirmjäger. He was awarded with the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross
for he brave behaviour in the battles in North Africa, in July 1942. On 18-05-1943 he is promoted to Hauptmann and commander of the 2nd company of the Panzer Reconnaissance Division “Herman Goering”
. He ends his career in Allied captivity and received there the Iron Cross by intervention of the Red Cross.

In “The night fell over Gotenhafen” movie he embodies an SS officer. In the second part of the television classic In the movie “Am grünen Strand der Spree” On the green beach of the Spree (“The General”) by Fritz Umgelter he was next to Wolfgang Büttner, Hans Pössenbacher and Anneli Granget as Major Illing stationed at a divisional headquarters in northern Norway.
Among his most famous roles in films were his portrayal of Luftwaffe pilot Hauptmann Herllmuth Lang in “The Longest Day”
and as security guard Frick in “The Great Escape”.
Til Kiwe lived in Munich where he died at the age of 85, on 30-11-1995 and is buried on the Neuer Sudfriedhof of Munich, Bavaria.
