Wehner, Ernst, born 18-05-1903, was a SS-Sturmscharführer of the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) The Sicherheitsdienst was founded in March 1931 by Heinrich Himmler

under the name Ic-Dienst. The predecessor of the SD operated from an apartment and reported directly to Heinrich Himmler. Before the German National Socialists came to power, the purpose of the Ic-Dienst was to keep an eye on political opponents, ensure the safety of Nazi party leaders and prevent internal party uprisings. With the Nazis’ rise to power in Germany in 1933, the service was known as the SD-Amt and entered into a certain competition with the Sturmabteilung (SA). On 09-06-1934, a single party information service was established, the so-called Sicherheitsdienst (SD), with the SD-Amt as its base and under the command of Reinhard Heydrich .The SD grew into an influential party organisation that was eagerly used by the Schutzstaffel (SS) and the National Socialist government. The SD worked closely with the Sicherheitspolizei (the Gestapo and the Kriminalpolizei).

Wehner together with colleagues such as Maarten Kuiper, a Dutch policeman, NSB member and SS member  Friedrich Christian Viebahn a Gestapo man and Emil Rühl, made many victims in North Holland during the Second World War. In February 1943, Maarten Kuiper carried out the execution of the famous Dutch resistance member Jannetje Johanna “Hannie” Schaft on 17-04-1945. After the war, Maarten Kuiper, age 49, was sentenced to death. On 30-08-1948, this was carried out in Fort Bijlmer. Friedrich Christian Viebahn on 15-07-1944 was present at the arrest of the resistance man Johannes Post in the Amsterdam Kinkerstraat. On 29-01-1945 Viebahn was involved in the arrest of resistance man Jan Overeem,   among others. On 04-10-1949 he was sentenced to 18 years in prison with deduction, among other things because of Silbertanne actions, involvement in executions (where he shot three people himself) and abuse of prisoners. After a pardon Viebahn was deported across the Dutch/German border on 31-03-1956. In 1960 Viebahn joined the West German Bundesnachrichtendienst, but because of his involvement in the murders during the Second World War he was dismissed in 1964. Jan Overeem, age 27, was arrested and executed on 09-02-1945 in Zaandam, together with resistance man Stephanus Johannes Paul Bakker Bakker  Johan de Jonge, Gerrit Cornelis Stapel and Jacob Izaak de Haan.

Wehner was involved in the reprisals in Haarlem after the attack on Alois Bamberger.

On Saturday evening, 30-01-1943, German non-commissioned officer Alois Bamberger (11-06-1912) age 30, was fatally hit in the back by a bullet while cycling on the Verspronckweg in Haarlem..
