Pooters, Petrus Antonius Martinus “Pam”, born 28-08–1911, in Amsterdam, the second child of Petrus Antonius Martinus Pooters and his wife Sophia Maria, born Smit in a family of six children. His father had a café (de Vriendschap) on the Nieuwmarkt

. When he was ten, his mother died. Petrus was socially engaged at an early age and had communist sympathies. Shortly after the German invasion, he married Wilhelmine Claire Weber, originally from Etterbeek in Belgium, at the age of 28. Wilhelmine C. Pooters-Weber was imprisoned in Camp Vught and Ravensbrück from an unknown date.

At the beginning of the war he became involved in the resistance group CS-6 (named after Corellistraat 6 in Amsterdam).   This group included Gerrit Willem Kastein,

Jan Verleun,   Reina Prinsen Geerligs, Leo Frijda,     Hans Katan, Sape Kuiper, Walter Brandligt, the brothers Jan Karel Boissevain and Gideon Willem Boissevain

and their second cousin Louis Boissevain

. Pooters gave lessons in Marxism to the young members of this group. In 1942, Pooters transported Samuel Marek “Milo”  Anstadt and his then wife Lidy to another hiding place in a truck of the Amsterdam Crisis Service, armed with a revolver. Samuel Marek “Milo” Andstadt was born in Poland (a location now in Ukraine) but moved with his family to the Netherlands in 1930. He received a masters degree in law from the University of Amsterdam and specialized in criminology. Andstadt survived the war and died 16-07-2011 (age 91) in Amsterdam,

His sisters Nel Pooters, Mientje ten Dam-Pooters (1917-2016)  and her later husband Jaap ten Dam  were also active in the resistance.

After many resistance activities including liquidations, the Germans went looking for the members of the CS-6 group. The traitor Anton van der Waals managed to lure Pooters into an ambush so that he could be arrested. Petrus realized that he had fallen into a trap and tried to escape but was shot by the Germans. Pooters was executed on 01-10-1943, age 32, in the dunes of Overveen.  He was reburied in the honorary cemetery Bloemendaal in Overveen.

Antonius van der Waals (Rotterdam, 11-10-1912 – Scheveningen, 26-01-1950) was a spy for the German Sicherheitsdienst (SD) during the war. He made at least 83 victims and played a leading role in the Englandspiel, which cost the lives of many Dutch secret agents from England.In German circles he was sometimes called a V-mann or ‘Vertrauensmann’. Common terms in the Netherlands were ‘secret agent’, ‘infiltrator’ and provocateur. His task was to penetrate Dutch resistance groups and gather information, which had to lead to a quick arrest of resistance members. Van der Waals operated under a multitude of false names. The relevant identity papers were either passed on to him by the SD, or Van der Waals obtained them through his own actions, including murder, theft and confiscation. Van der Waals was sentenced to death and executed on the Waalsdorpervlakte on 26-01-1950, aged 38.

   evolved between 1931 and 1945 from a modest National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) intelligence service to the state intelligence service of Nazi Germany with 51 main departments and 519 regional departments, several thousand agents and tens of thousands of informants.

In Amsterdam, a sports centre in the Rivierenbuurt is named after Pam Pooters, the Pam Pooters Sports Hall on the Vechtstraat. Milo Anstadt dedicated his book The Suspected Earbow to more than 40 Dutch people of non-Jewish descent, including Pam Pooters.

The Bloemendaal Cemetery of Honour is a military cemetery in the Kennemerduinen. 372 Dutch resistance fighters are buried here. The cemetery is open daily. The National Remembrance Day is also held at the cemetery on 4 May. Furthermore, the complex has been a national monument since 2010.
