Lorenz, Walter, born 17-09-1884, in Friedenau, joined the Army on 01-10-1903, age 19, in the 76th Infanterie Regiment and was in the fields of the first war with this Regiment as a battalion commander and Oberleutnant. The 76th Reserve Division initially fought on the Eastern Front. Its baptism of fire was in the Second Battle of the Masurian Lakes. It participated in several battles in the course of the Gorlice-Tarnów Offensive, including the siege of Kovno, the battle on the Neman River, and the battle of Vilnius. From November 1915 to September 1916, the division remained in positional warfare by Riga. It was then transferred to Romania, where it fought until the armistice on the Romanian front. In arrest 17-04-1945 and released two years later on 03-03-1947, Lorenz lived in Bad Herrenalb, where he at the old age of 90 died, on 20-02-1975. He is buried on the village cemetery of Bad Herrenalb.
