Döring, von, Kurt-Bertram Wilhelm Tilo, born 18-02-1889 in (Ribberkardt/Silesië, Germany, to Curt Ludwig Otto von Döring, who was 36 and his mother, Maria Luise von Treuenfels, who was 34.

Kurt-Betram Wilhem Tilo, had seven brothers and sisters. Marie Ingeborg Henriette Bertha Louise August von Döring (1878-1943), Henriette Charlotte Margarethe Erna Ottilie von Döring (1880–1965), Charlotte Sophie Ernestine Magdalene von Döring (1881–1962), Heinrich Ernst August Hugo Hasso von Döring (1883–1951) Kurt-Bertram Wilhelm Tilo von Döring  (1889–1960) and +2 more children. The couple had one son and one daughter. Kurt-Bertram Wilhelm Tilo von Döring (1889–1960) and Freiin Helene Arabella Emma Elsa Grote (1903–1988).

Kurt Betram joined the Dragoon Regiment Nr. 17 on 14-03-1907. In mid 1913 he transferred to the Air Service, and in May 1914 joined Festung Flieger-Abteilung in Cologne. He began his career as a flying ace in World War I, became a flying soldier of fortune during the 1920s and early 1930s, and then joined the resurgent German air service and served through World War II.

In late 1914, he was assigned to Flieger-Abteilung 38, and was commissioned on 01-02-1915. Döring then served with Sonderstaffel Nr. 2 in 1916. An able administrative Officer and leader, as well as being considered a steady and reliable pilot, meant after service with Flieger-Abteilung (Artillerie) 227 von Döring took command of Jagdstaffel 4 on 08-04-1917, before he had claimed an air victory. However, Döring scored his first victory a few days later, on 14-04-1917; he continued to collect wins through 4 October, when he scored his eleventh and last. On 14-12-1917, he was awarded the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern to accompany his Iron Cross First Class.

Von Döring also gained the trust of Jagdgeschwader 1 commander Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen,

who assigned command of Jagdgeschwader 1 to von Döring when Richthofen was away from the front.

Promoted to Rittmeister on 28-11-1917, von Döring remained in command of Jagdstaffel 4 until 19-01-1918, after which he took over Jagdgruppe Nr. 4. In August he took over Jagdstaffel 66, and then a few days later Jagdstaffel 1.

Von Döring rejoined the Dragoons on 01-12-1918. He became an advisor with the Argentinian Air Force from 1923 to 1927 and the Peruvian Air Force until 1929. From 1930 to 1932, he was a member of the German aviation mission to China.

Von Döring rejoined the Luftwaffe on 01-07-1934, as a major. He commanded the flying School at Celle in 1936, and became a Gruppenkommandeur of Jagdgeschwader 2. He commanded the Jagdgeschwader 134 (JG 134) “Horst Wessel” Horst Wessel Squadron in April 1936.

From 15-12-1939 to 01-12-1940 he was a Major General commanding Jagdfliegerführer 2. He was replaced by Generalmajor Theodore “Theo” Osterkamp, 01-12-1940 to July 1941. Osterkamp survived the war and died 02-01-1975 (aged 82) Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, West Germany.

From August 1941 through January 1942, von Döring was a Jagd Division commander with the rank of Lieutenant General (Generalleutnant), his seniority dating from 01-11-1941.

From 01-02-1942 to 30-04-1942 he was Commander of the 1st Night Fighter Division, from 01-05-1942 to 14-10-1943, Commander of the 1st Fighter Division. From 15-10-1943 to 09-11-1943,  Commander of the 3rd Fighter Division. From 10-11-1943 to 09-09-1944 von Döring was Officer for Special Assignments in the RLM and with the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force. From 10-07-1944 to 08-05-1945, he was Head of the Central Office Group in the RLM/Reichsluftfahrtministerium or Ministry of Aviation of the Reich.

Kurt Bertram von Döring, who was married with Lita, born von Dungern, on 05-07-1929, in Lima, Peru, survived the war and died 09-07-1960, age 71 in Kloster Medingen/Nedersaksen, Germany and is buried at the Waltfriedhof/Cemetery of Medingen, Am Kampenweg, 29549 Bad Bevensen-Medingen, Germany.
