Hamel, Ernst.

Hamel, Ernst, born 15-06-1877 in Wessin, region of Parchim , joined the Army as a Fahnenjunker and Company Officer in the 9^th Pioneer Battalion on 01-04-1898, age 20. Detached to the Military Technical Academy to 15-08-1905 and was an Adjutant in the 9^th Battalion to 22-12-1910. In the first war he was Company Chief in the 9^th Battalion to 23-10-1915. Commander of the 17^th Infantry Division and from 02-08-1916 wounded  in hospital until 25-04-1917. Recovered he became the leader of the 9^th Replacement Pioneer Battalion to 21-06-1917. As commander of the 31^st Pioneer Battalion again wounded in hospital until 02-10-1918, Granted Leave from 01-11-1918 and retired from the Service on 31-03-1920. Ernst joined the Police Service with the Security Police in Mecklenburg, from 01-11-1939 until 31-12-1923 as a Major. Hamel entered the Luftwaffe Serve  in the growing Göring’s Luftwaffe as a Supplement Officer from 10-07-1935. (see  Did you know) (see Hermann Göring) (see Peter Göring)

   Hamel became leader of the Military Economics Office I, region Dessau, as an Oberstleutnant and had this position with the start of WWII until 12-11-1939. Leader of Military Economics Office, Liegnitz of Inspection VII to 14-03-1940. Inspector of Luftwaffe Construction Troops RLM until 11-09-1941 as an Oberst. Chief of the Luftwaffe Construction Inspection RLM, to 30-11-1942. Inspector of Luftwaffe Inspection for Construction Troops and POWs to 30-04-1943 and landed as a Generalmajor  in the Führer Reserve for 5 months to 30-09-1943. Not useful for Hitler’s warfare retired on 30-09-1943, age 66. Placed to disposal and used in the Volkssturm , as a Generalleutnant, till he ended in Soviet captivity in Mai 1945.

The same year released and living in Kladow, Berlin, Hamel, not a battelield General passed away at the age of 81, on 28-03-1969 and is buried on the local cemetery of Kladow, Berlin, former East Berlin territory. Alas his gravestone is meanwhile removed from the grave.
