Funcke, Heinz, born 21-12-1892 in Hagen, Westphalia,
joined the Army, age 20, as a Fähnrich and Platoon leader on 13-03-1913 in the 13th Infantry Regiment. He served during World War I and ended as commander of the 3rd Battle Squadron. He followed a training as a Aircraft Observer and Observer
on the Russian Front until 1917. Observer with the 256th Flying Battalion. Funcke retained in the Army Service, in the new Reichswehr and had a secret Flying Training in Lipezk in Russia and the Lufthansa to 1931 now a Hauptmann. Transferred to the Luftwaffe Service
and Chief Personnel Officer IIA in the Staff of the Higher Air Office in Münster to 28-03-1935, now a Major. Air Tactics Instructor at the War School in Munich until 31-12-1938 as an Oberstleutnant, age 46. With the outbreak of World War II he as an Oberst was commander of the 62nd Flying Training Regiment. Then a Generalmajor, to January 1944, commander of the Air War School in Berlin Gatow,

Funck, now Generalleutnant, was commander of the Air Fleet Troops 6 to 04-05-1945. He landed in US captivity and was released on 12-05-1947.Death and burial ground of Funcke, Heinz.
Living in Münster, Funcke, not a battlefield General, died at the age of 76, on 16-06-1969. He is buried on the Zentralfriedhof of Münster and only steps from the grave of WWII Generalmajor der Infanterie, Kommandeur 282th Infanterie Division
