Kanitz, Hans Graf von
Hans von Kanitz, born 17-11-1893 in Podangen, East Prussia, entered the Army Service on 24-03-1913, age 19, as a Fahnenjunker in the 13th Cuirassier Regiment. He was in the fields of the first war and ended as an Oberleutnant and Ordinance Officer with the General Command of the East Prussian Volunteer Corps. At the start of World War II he as an Oberstleutnant was the director of Unterofficers Courses at the Army Gas Protection School
in Celle until 26-10-1939, promoted to Oberst on 01-04-1939. Appointed to Commander of Army Gas Protection School, Celle, until 18-11-1944 and landed in the Führer Reserve to 18-11-1944 and released of the Army service, age 51. Retiring in in Bückeburg, Kanitz died at the age of 74, on 25-08-1968 and is buried on the Stadtfriedhof of Bückeburg. Albert Speer (see Speer) was arrested by the British in his castle headquarters in Bückeburg, while shaving. Close by the graves of the Generals Carl André (see André), Sigismund Falkenstein (see Falkenstein) and Otto Heidkämper (see Heidkämper).
