Anders, Jerzy Edward, born 08-09-1896 in Włonye, ​​Warsaw County, Constitutional Kingdom of Poland, a village located approximately one kilometre north of Krośniewice. Jerzy was the son of Albert Anders– a German Balt, and Elżbieta born Tauchert. Jerzy was the youngest of four brothers and all of them had a career in the Polish army. The oldest brother was Anders, Albert Wladyslaw   Polish 2* General. Charge Polish soldiers on Monte Cassino. Second brother was Karol Anders  a Lieutenant colonel in the cavalry of the Polish Army and the third brother was Anders, Tadeusz Konstanty  a captain artillery officer in the Polish Army during the Interbellum Period. Jerzy studied at the Kaunas Gymnasium St. Petersburg Dormitory Gymnasium Yelisavetgrad Cavalry School . After graduating from the Kaunas Gymnasium and the St. Petersburg Gymnasium,   Jerzy followed his brothers in the army and joined the Russian Imperial Army in 1916 and participated in the war as a member of the 3rd Fighter Squadron on the Bulgarian front. In February 1917, during the war, he entered Yelisavetgrad Cavalry School. About nine months later, he was assigned to the 1st Regiment Signal Unit of the 1st Polish Corps as a non-commissioned officer. Jerzy was demobilized in July 1918 and studied life sciences at the University of Warsaw.

During Nazi Germany ‘s invasion of Poland, he participated in the Battle of Cork as the commander of the 5th Regiment of the Polesie Independent Operation Group (SGO Polesie), but surrendered to the German Wehrmacht on October 6 and was imprisoned in the Oplag VII-A Murnau Officers’ Camp along with his younger brother Karol .He was released by the U.S. Army on April 29, 1945, and joined his older brother Władysław ‘s 2nd Polish Corps, serving as commander of the 3rd Regiment from November 13.After the Free Polish Army was disbanded , they moved to England and Canada. The Battle of the Coral Sea, from 4 to 8 May 1942, was a major naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) and naval and air forces of the United States and Australia. Taking place in the Pacific Theatre of World War II, the battle was the first naval action in which the opposing fleets neither sighted nor fired upon one another, attacking over the horizon from aircraft carriers instead. It was also the first military battle between aircraft carriers.

Anders, Jerzy Edward received the Legion of Merit on 22-01-1948″ for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from January 1944 to 2 May 1945. “Department of the Army, General Orders No. 5. Anders, Jerzy Edward passes away 21-12-1977 (age 81) in Dominion of Canada Ontario Toronto and is buried at York Cemetery, Toronto, Toronto Municipality, Ontario, Canada, Section B – Lot 640. 160 Beecroft Road, North York, Ontario M2N 1W7, Canada.
