By order of the Supreme Commander, British troops arrested Grand Admiral Doenitz, General Jodl, Chief of Staff and Ministers of the German Flensburg “Government”. Not a shot was fired and only one man died-Admiral General Friedeberg, the man who surrendered the German Navy to Montgomery. He took poison and died within a minute. The dissolution of the Doenitz cabinet brings to a close the final chapter in the life of Hitler’s Third Reich.
