Hohn, Dr. Hermann.

Hohn, Dr. Hermann, born 11-10-1897 in Renchen, Baden, joined the Army Service as a war volunteer, age 17, in the III Recruitment Depot of the 10^th Foot Artillery Regiment. Hohn was in the fields of the first war and ended the war as a Leutnant at a Course at the Army Artillery School in Maubeuge. Hohn retired from the Service on 31-12-1920, went to the University in Heidelberg and entered Adolf Hitler’s  (did you know) growing Army again on 01-09-1935. With the beginning of World War II he was transferred, as a Major, to the General Staff  of the General Command of the XXIII Army Corps,  commanded by General der Infanterie, Albrecht Schubert , to 01-11-1939. Schubert survived the war and died 26-11-1966, age 90 in Bielefeld, Germany. Hohn became an adjutant in the 72^nd Infantry Division , under General der Infanterie, Franz Mattenklott

     to 01-12-1940. Commander of the II Battalion of the 105^th Infantry Regiment until 14-07-1942 and delegated with the leadership of the 124^th Grenadier Regiment to 16-09-1942. Commander of the 105^th Infantry Regiment and landed in the Führer Reserve on 26-05-1944.  He received as 109^th the Swords of the Iron Cross  on 31-10-1944 as Commander of the 72^nd Infanterie-Division. The 72^nd Infantry Division was created on 19-09-1939 in Trier from Grenz-Division Trier , which was a border security unit. It was destroyed on the Eastern Front 25-03-1944 and reformed June 1944. Meanwhile a Generalmajor detached to the 10^th Division’s  leader Course to 20-02-1945. He again becomes commander of his former 72^nd Infantry Division, succeeding Erwin Menny   until 20-04-1945.  Menny died age 56 on 06-12-1949.  Hohn’s last command was of the XI Army Corps  and lands in Allied captivity on 09-05-1945. While the majority of the subordinate XI Army Korps fell into Soviet captivity at the end of the war, Hohn could settle west to surrender to the US-British troops there on May 09-05-1945.
