Robert J. Bloser, born 30-05-1922, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Robert enlisted in the U.S Army on 14-08-1942, and volunteered for the the new elite paratroopers. Robert was sent to CampToccoa, Georgia, for training, and was placed in 1st platoon of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. under command of General Lieutenant Robert Frederick Sink, “Bob”, “Five-Oh-Sink” 

  E Company, 2nd Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles”, is a company in the United States Army. The company was referred to as “Easy” after the radio call for “E” in the phonetic alphabet used during World War II. The experiences of its members during that war are the subject of the 1992 book Band of Brothers

by historian Stephen Ambrose and the 2001 HBO miniseries of the same name.

Robert endured the tough training, made the c.115 mile march from Camp Toccoa to Atlanta in December 1942, earned his jump wings, and shipped to England with the rest of the 101st Airborne in Sep 1943. On D-Day, he flew to Normandy in Stick #67 with Winters, Richard Davis “Dick”.

Robert parachuted into the night with 13,100 other American paratroopers.

Sadly, Private Robert Bloser would be killed in action the following day, 07-06-1944, age 22, by gunfire. Robert is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach.Tipper Jr, Edward, “Ed”  Joseph,  Robert’s best friend throughout training. Ed lived until 2017, age 95.
