Haxthausen, Elmershaus Walter Eberhard von, born, 21-02-1915 in Kiel. He was an example for a career as Officer in the Kriegsmarine in the special Fleet units. He became commander of the minesweeper “R34” in September 1939 and as an officer on the Mine searching boat “M7” He then got the command of the mine searching boat “M83” In June 1943 Haxthausen was assigned as Chief of the Fleet of the 2nd Artillery Carrier Fleet. He was awarded with the Iron Cross on 03-07-1944.

After the war von Haxthausen retired in Bad Godesberg, Bonn, where he died at the age of 68, on 15-11-1983. Von Haxthausen is buried on the cemetery of Rüngsdorf, a suburb of Bonn. On the same cemetery are also buried the Generalleutnant der Artillerie, Kommandeur der Artillerieschule Berlin, Helmut Huffmann
, General der Panzertruppe, Kommandierend des XLVI.
